DIIV — The Fountain
Played: 2026-08-13 (Daily Music Report)
DIIV are a US band (New York) formed 2011 by Zachary Cole Smith (formerly of Beach Fossils). "The Fountain" (3:25) is the lead single and track 1 of 11 on ZIRP!, DIIV's fifth studio album (following Frog in Boiling Water, 2024), due 30 October 2026 on Fantasy Recordings, produced by A.G. Cook. Cook told The Line of Best Fit: "I became a bit obsessed with their live sound, and insisted on recording live drums before most of the songs were even finished." The album was first teased the prior week via a hotline card mailed to fans. Full tracklist: "The Fountain," "Kid," "When The Glow Came For Us," "Dare Me," "The Crash," "Trillions," "Us Against You," "Evangelizer," "Underground," "My Star," "Idiot In The Sky." Daily Music Report note: the track blends DIIV's signature shoegaze with a new electronic edge — whispery vocals and ominous guitars over oscillating synths and woozy lead guitar — opening the album as the band pushes into more experimental territory.
