Lead single from Jubilee, released 2 March 2021 on Dead Oceans, a deliberate pivot from the grief-driven indie rock of Psychopomp and Soft Sounds from Another Planet toward joy, with Michelle Zauner citing Björk and Kate Bush as inspiration. Co-written with Jack Tatum of Wild Nothing and produced by Zauner, bandmate Craig Hendrix and Tatum, leaning into synth-pop/new wave. Became a festival and late-night staple, including a Saturday Night Live performance, and helped carry Jubilee to a Mercury Prize nomination.
TikTok angle: The joy-fuelled single that got Japanese Breakfast a Mercury nomination, and it was a literal SNL moment.
