The opening track of Jim James' fifth solo album Wowed Out (28 August 2026, ATO), the title a phrase the My Morning Jacket frontman coined for the sensory overload of modern life. The album has a remarkable origin story: built from recordings James made in the early 2010s with award-winning composer Brian Reitzell (best known for Sofia Coppola scores like Lost in Translation and The Virgin Suicides), originally composed for two film-scoring projects and then shelved for years until inspiration struck last autumn. Self-produced and mixed with GRAMMY-winning engineer Emily Lazar (David Bowie, Beck).
TikTok angle: A whole My Morning Jacket side project built from film-score sessions shelved in the early 2010s, dug up years later.
