King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard — Alien Metal

Played: 2026-07-30 (TikTok) (Daily Music Report)

"Alien Metal" is the title track from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard's 28th studio album, announced 8 July 2026 as their first full-on EDM (electronic dance music) record, released on their own p(doom) Records. The band described approaching the album by saying "I'm going to forget everything I know about music and just have fun." Stu Mackenzie and the band continue the electronic turn that began with 2023's The Silver Cord, pushing further into brain-busting early-'90s techno territory. The title track follows lead single "Level 5" and was described by Stereogum as "an extremely fun piece of brain-busting early-'90s techno catharsis." The album is due "later in the summer" of 2026. The Daily Music Report noted the track fuses pulsing techno, hardcore, house, and jungle rhythms with the band's psychedelic edge, built around their modular synthesizer setup.
