Written during COVID lockdown; recorded at Cateuil in Etretat, Normandy, and Studio Water Music in Paris. Inspired by Maurice Leblanc's fictional gentleman thief Arsène Lupin. Doherty had relocated to Normandy and was nearly three years clean of heroin at the time of recording. Widely regarded as some of his finest work since Grace/Wastelands in 2009.
