16. Rock Plaza Central — Anthem for the Already Defeated
Release date: 2006 Track: 4 of album Key / BPM: Bm / 144
Canadian band who made three albums between 2004 and 2010 and then went quiet. Are We Not Horses is their second record.
Dense, orchestrated sound — horns, strings, accordion, banjo, full ensemble arrangements leaning into folk and chamber pop. Never received the recognition their records deserved.
Anthem for the Already Defeated is two minutes and three seconds. It means every word. One of those songs that sticks with you for days.
