Seth Avett — Good Morning Coffee

Seth Avett (of The Avett Brothers) released Seth Avett Sings Greg Brown on 16 February 2023 via Ramseur Records, a full-album tribute to the influential folk singer-songwriter Greg Brown. "Good Morning Coffee" is one of Brown's best-loved songs, and Avett recorded the album at his home studio. The Charlotte Observer noted that on the track you can hear Avett's young son Isaac making noise in the background — a domestic moment Avett deliberately left in the recording. Avett has described Brown as "one of the finest American poets of the last 40 years" and has been connecting with Brown's music since his own twenties, watching the arc of Brown's life and work as his own family grew.

Moment in History: Seth Avett was born on 30 July 1980 — the same calendar date as this show. He also records solo as Timothy Seth Avett as Darling; his "Good Morning Coffee" has been noted to sound remarkably like the music from "Knick Knacks" by John Lasseter (IYKYK).
