Tame Impala — Hummer
Played: 2026-07-02 (Segment 1 — Opener) (TikTok)(new release)(Daily Music Report)
Kevin Parker's project, first new Tame Impala material of the cycle. "Hummer" shares its name — and its DNA — with Smashing Pumpkins' "Hummer" from Siamese Dream (1993); Parker reimagines it as swirling, hypnotic psychedelia rather than covering it straight. A Daily Music Report pick. Opens the show: six minutes of immersive psych that lets the opening segment breathe.
TikTok angle: Tame Impala named a new song after a 1993 Smashing Pumpkins track off Siamese Dream — not a cover, but a full rebuild into six minutes of swirling psychedelia. Framed as a "which version wins?" debate hook; this was TikTok 1, posted live during the show.
